Purpose of music videos

Music Videos - who are they for?
A music video is a Visual point of view in the music industry. It can be very good for the artist its trying to premote. Infact some artists are known from how clever there music video's are. But not only do music videos help the artist, they also are for the audience to enjoy. By watching and listening.at home the audience can see there favourite artist everyday on a screen, instead of having to go a long distance to see them live.

What are they intended to do?
Music videos are intended to be more interactive with the audience at home. It makes peope feel like they are there watching. From doing this it makes the artist more money.

How do they promote the artist/track?
Music videos are a great way of an artist showing off there talent. A music video can be used in every type of genre, but different videos promote in different ways. For example, if there was a music video for a rock band it would promote the band by showing how fast they can play guitar, unlike if the music video was for a Drum and bass track, in that case it could promote the band by how good the music video is, or how it's been made to interact with the tempo of the track.

How do we know if it's a success?
Normally just watching the music video, you can tell if it is a success, because it will be more perfessal and you (the viewer) will enjoying watching. The way i tell if the music video is worth watching is i go onto youtube, type in the track i might watch then look down at the comments to see if people say it's good or not. For example i went on and typed in 'Around the world by darft punk'. What i saw in the comments was very possive. So i know from that, that it is worth watching.
